Here’s the press release:
Equmen Launches Body-Optimizing Men’s ‘Wondershirt’ at Saks Fifth Avenue
Here’s my review of Equmen:
Undershirt Review: Equmen Core Precision Undershirt
I’ll try to get in touch with the folks at Saks to see if they can tell me exactly which one of their stores are now the Equmen line of undershirts, but based on the press release, and as of a couple of days ago, Saks will carry the line in select cities across the US, including New York, Bal Harbour, Houston, Richmond, St. Louis and Beverly Hills. There are plans to roll-out the line to a further 20 doors by October 25th.
Here’s a blurb from the wire:
Saks Fifth Avenue will be the first retailer in the United States to carry the line. “We are seeing evolution in the menswear and grooming segments as men are becoming more aware of what it takes to put their best foot forward,” says Eric Jennings, Fashion Director. “Women have long had an extensive set of resources in this area. We are very pleased to give men a new, highly effective tool in their grooming arsenal.”
This is a pretty timely announcement as well because a reader wrote in recently and provided a comparison between Equmen, Sculptees, and Underworks. I’ll post that article later today or tomorrow.
Update: Here’s the comparison post.
Tug Reader Compares Equmen, Sculptees, and Underworks Compression Tank Tops
Update: I just got word from the folks at Equmen stating that their line of undershirts is available at the following Saks Fifth Avenue stores as of this Friday, 6/05/09:
New York, NY
Bal Harbour, FL
St. Louis, MO
Beverly Hills, CA
6/08/09 Update: It also looks like Equmen will be available at Canadian retailer Holt Renfrew. Here’s a blurb from an article where they leaked the information before the official press release:
Holt Renfrew is the first Canadian retailer to carry the line and expects to have stock available for sale later this month.
“It’s an opportunity for men to look as good as we do,” quipped Holt Renfrew menswear sales associate Jacqueline Mills from the high-fashion retailer’s Bloor St. store yesterday.
And if the buzz around the new “man-girdle” is any gauge, men are just as anxious to strut their stuff in form-fitting clothing as women.
“We’ve received more than a dozen calls in the last three days from customers asking us when it’s going to arrive,” said David Labrecque, divisional manager for Holt’s menswear department.
“It’s done very well in Europe and that’s why we picked it up,” he said.
6/23/09 Update: Just came across this video that features Equmen exec, Michael Flint! It also shows the Equmen compression boxers.
