Undershirt Guy Blog Mentioned in March 2010 Issue of Men’s Health!

Wow! Now this is funny, cool, exciting, and totally awesome!

The amazing folks from RIPT Fusion just forwarded me a scan of a men’s shapewear article that was just published in the March 2010 issue of Men’s Health (on newsstands now!), written by Colin McEnroe,  that features the RIPT Fusion Body Sculpting Undershirt as well as Equmen’s Core Precision Undershirt. As I was scanning through the article and digesting Colin’s take on men’s shapewear, I was totally taken off guard when I read the following:

The shapewear field re-emerged in 2009. Before that, the last group of guys to wear this stuff would have included the real Mad Men Don Drapers, circa 1960. An alert reader reader of the Undershirt Guy blog found an old newspaper ad for Jockey Vitalizer Briefs that offered “trim that midsection to a slimmer, youthful look.”

Shock and amazement consumed me as I discovered that my little old blog had been discovered and referred to in Colin’s article! I got so excited, I ran out and drove all over town to find a newsstand that had a copy!

Now, I cannot take too much credit here, because Colin was actually referring to an article that came about due to the very generous contribution of a loyal reader, who prefers to stay anonymous: What’s Old Is New. Mens Shapewear Underwear Advertising from the 1960’s and 1970’s

So, I want to send out my special thanks to that reader who sent in the scans of the vintage shapewear advertisements, to Colin for writing the article, and to RIPT and Equmen for making some amazing men’s slimming undershirts.
