Tug Updates: SlimT’s Review, InstaSlim Undershirts, Sutran, FORM Tank, etc.
Hey folks, got lots of stuff queued up for your upcoming reading enjoyment. We’re going to have a summer packed full of new and interesting undershirt news! Here’s a quick update to tide you over until I can break away to dive into all the details:
- Upcoming SlimT’s Slimming Undershirt/Tank review – I’ve finally got my hands on one of the SlimT slimming tank top undershirts. Unfortunately, I had to get it the old fashioned way – no I didn’t buy it – I’m borrowing it from a friend of mine! Man, I’ll tell you – these guys who created the SlimT’s infomercial really did an amazing job because I’ve had thousands of people visiting my site over the last several months looking for information about this product. In fact, it appears that SlimT’s is the #1 looked for item on my website! Never fear, Tug is here! And so will the SlimTs review, coming sometime in August.
8/11/10 Update: See comments section below for a quick/mini Slim Ts review.
10/02/12 Update: Looks like the Williams Power Mens Shape Shirt and Slim Ts are either the exact same product or share the exact same design. My guess it’s the former. - InstaSlim/I.S. Athletics Slimming/Compression undershirts – Yay! I have one of these too now courtesy of the folks that market and take orders for the company/manufacturer. They were nice enough to send me one of their private stash, so I’m feeling pretty damn special right about now. Unpacked it right away and was interested to see that it kinda looks and is designed similar to a Spanx for Men! I’m gonna get them side-by-side soon and do a closer comparison. Review coming sometime in August too!
9/01/10 Update: Finally got around to trying this puppy out. Check out my Insta Slim undershirt review and initial thoughts. - Sutran Undershirts – Yep, got my Sutran Sweat Eliminating undershirt too just yesterday and will have to put it to the test when I can get back to the gym. My immediate impression was that the shirt felt really nice, but you can definitely tell that this two-layer sweat soaking undergarment is definitely thicker than the other sweat absorbing undershirts from companies like Silverback, Klienerts, and Sweatshield. Proof is in the pudding though, I’m going to beat myself senseless at the gym over the next couple of weeks and see how well this puppy absorbs.
8/12/Update: Haven’t gone to the gym yet to put it to the test, but I decided to try on my black Sutran undershirt. A great first impression – a very comfortable shirt in it’s own right and although it’s a little thicker than most other regular undershirts (because of the two layers), it doesn’t feel any warmer to wear then the other hyperhidrosis undershirts I’ve tried, some of them mentioned above. The v-neck collar is higher than an average v-neck collared undershirt, but I suppose that would be a good thing because many people who have hyperhidrosis will sweat on the chest and this high v-neck design provides optimum coverage. Now I just have to get myself to the gym to see about how well this undershirt controls sweat through. Stay tuned. - 2(x)ist FORM tank review – bad Tug! I have been meaning to get to writing this review, but with the whole site redesign project going on, I haven’t been able to sit down to write the review yet! I’m sure my friends at 2(x)ist are wondering when I’m going to get off my ass and write it, but don’t you worry – that review will also be coming in August.
- I’ve got a bunch of other stuff to get too as well including reviewing the ever so totally awesome CK MicroModal undershirt as well as writing up some stuff about the very thoughtfully designed and manufactured products from Klen Laundry.
- There’s a new Odor Eliminating undershirt that we’ll talk about soon
- And, there’s another sweat absorbing undershirt coming out this fall that might just give Silverback, Kleinerts, Sweatshield, and Sutran a run for their money! I guess only time will tell
- Lot’s more Ask Tug stories to share too, as well as some recent reader contributions – one of which I’ll try to post later today
Sheeze, I’m gonna be one busy undershirt blogger for the remainder of the summer! Stay cool folks and keep an eye out for some great content coming your way soon!

Welcome & Thanks for Visiting UndershirtGuy.com!

Don’t do business with Insta Slim. I ordered with the understanding that I had a “money back guarantee”. This is a lie. I returned the shirts and they refuse to issue a refund, so now they have the shirts and my money. In addition, the shirts are very uncomfortable.
hey mike. wow, i’m fairly surprised to hear that and will definitely send this comment over to the folks that do some marketing for the company so they are aware of the issue.
my insta slim undershirt is pretty comfortable, or shall i say, about as comfortable as many other slimming undershirts i have so i’m sorry to hear your experience with insta slim wasn’t good.
i’ll forward this information over and see if the marketing company can comment on your issue or at least forward it to the company that sells insta slim.
needing some help,i am interested in getting a slim shirt of some kind but don’t know witch to get.i have a large chest and want to flanten it out along with some love handels.witch one would be the best and look the best for chest around the top of my back.
Anyword yet on InstaSlim?
hey jimmy, check out this mini insta slim review article i just posted!
Tug,
I recently purchased two CK micro modal crew t-shirts from Macys.com (white and black, both in Large), where I found them on sale for $17.99 each. I bought them sight-unseen, because our local Macy’s store does not stock any modal garments in the Men’s underwear department. I bought them partly as a result from reading your first impressions, and I must say, I agree.
These are wonderful t-shirts, nice enough to wear as outerwear. The shirts conform to my form without feeling constricting (40″ chest), and they are plenty long. I am long-waisted, and the bottom of the shirt still ends up six inches below my waist! I want to thank you for pointing these out, and I look forward to your review.
hey bob! thanks for stopping by and posting your thoughts about the ck micromodal undershirt. man, you got them at an awesome price! i’m happy you found out about them through my website here too. i heard back from another reader who also tried out the ck micromodal undershirts and although he loves the way they feel, he had this to say about them after wearing them in hotter weather conditions:
personally, i have found them to be wonderfully comfortable wearing them throughout the day, but I really don’t sweat too much and the climate here in SoCal has been pretty milld this summer. It’ll be interesting to try to wear it somewhere when it’s a bit hotter.
i did hear from another reader who said these micromodal/spandex blend undershirts feel a bit to clingy when they get moist and they hold onto odors more, but i haven’t personally experienced either yet.
Any news about the InstaSlim shirts? The muscle tanks look very interesting.
hey david, my pleasure. that’s what i’m here for!
i’m big fan of the gc2 compression tank. out of the two i tried, i like the chest compression tank more than the waist slimming one.
i think the chest compression tank top from gc2 is the one you should try and i’m pretty certain you’ll be very pleased with it. i wear mine everytime i work out. (i stack the gc2 on top of the ardyss abdomen tank)
Thank you, Tug! I remember you suggesting the GC2 compression tank or GC2 bodyshaper as more of a slimming undershirt. Am I correct or mistaken? I’m kind of on the “heavier” side, but need something that’ll flatten the chest and help lessen the pressure on my waist from my pants/shorts (though I’m sure diet/exercise could fix that lol).
Any news on the Slim T review? I’m waiting patiently for this “revolutionary” slimming undershirt lol
hey david, thanks for stopping by and posting your comment/question about slimTs! i haven’t had the time to try out the slimT tank yet but i do have it sitting here in front of me. and, just because you asked so nicely, I decided to take a couple minutes out and try it on so i can provide some initial feedback.
first off, it’s pretty comfortable and not too terribly hard to get on and off. the 80% nylon / 20% spandex blend feels very nice on the skin. i have the medium slimT tank top and overall it fits pretty good. the wearing instructions said that if you can’t put on the shaping tank like a normal shirt, try stepping into it. i didn’t have any problem putting it over my head.
although laying flat the tank’s shoulder strap to bottom length measures only 28″, because of the stretchiness of the slimT, i can easily pull down the bottom down past my “greater trochanter” area (roughly where my legs intersect with my hips) – so staying tucked really isn’t going to be a problem for anyone of any height.
the slimT tank does offer a fair amount of smoothing and flattening. i think it performs nicely around the chest area where it flattened out my chest about as well as many other compression/slimming undershirts and tanks have. as with many other “slimming” undershirts i’ve tried, the slimT didn’t really offer any waist, stomach, or midsection slimming on my particular physique – maybe on someone larger in this area but it’s really hard to tell because the fabric in that area doesn’t seem very taunt/tight.
because the slimt undershirt is so stretchy, the visual “six pack” design in the front of the tank actually started around my belly button area and not at the top of my abs where you see it in the pictures. at least that’s where it felt more natural for me to wear the tank. that “six pack” is more about design and less about function, because i really couldn’t see any compression or slimming benefits from the square blocks that make up that section of the slimt tank.
i think it might be interesting to try to wear this tank to the gym. since the slimt does offer some flattening/shaping and is made out of a highly moisture-wicking fabric blend, it might be nice to wear as a base layer of a workout outfit.
i definitely feel i could size down one to a small – and maybe then it’d offer a little bit more support or slimming in different areas.
if you’re looking for a moderately priced tank top that will flatten and smooth out your chest, you probably would be reasonably satisfied with the slimT tank.
if your looking for compression/slimming around the waist area, there are other compression/slimming undershirts and tanks that perform better than the slimT in that area.
hope those initial thoughts help!
