The Worst Undershirt Available?
When I think of undershirts, I don’t normally think of the worst ones I’ve tried.
Clearly some undershirts are better than others, but to classify an undershirt as the worst one, that’s a pretty bold statement.
So color me interested when I got this email a couple weeks ago from a individual who wrote about his bad experience with one particular undershirt:
I came across your site while researching a post for my blog so I dropped a link in there. Thought you might enjoy the read. http://dadtherapy.com/blog/2012/7/11/the-worst-undershirt-in-america-faded-glory.html
Best, Dave
Here’s a snippet from Dave’s article, where he talks about his experience with Walmart’s Faded Glory undershirts:
The Faded Glory brand is Wal-Mart’s in-house clothing line I guess. I remember my wife buying some underwear for Carter there once just to try them.
I unrolled the first shirt from the bag and immediately could feel how flimsy they were compared to the Jockey Staycools I’m currently using every day (yes, these are the ones Tim Tebow shills). I figured I’d wear the Faded Glory shirts out quickly and toss them, giving more life to my other undershirts. That didn’t take long. A week later one of the shirts ripped when I was taking it off. There were three tears right underneath the collar in the front. Otherwise known as the one part of the shirt people see.
In the trash.
Even after a few washes the material of the other two remaining shirts feels itchy; not at all as soft and lush as those Tebow-specials.
Although I’m not one to defend poor craftsmanship, the Faded Glory undershirts do sell for around $2.16 per undershirt while the Staycool undershirts from Jockey sell for $13.50 per undershirt. You can add in a lot of quality and finishing improvements for $11.34.
As a wise man once told me: “Good things don’t come cheap and cheap things don’t come good.”
That said, if you increase your undershirt budget from say $3 an undershirt to $7 – $10 per, you’ll find a lot of wonderful quality products that will feel better on your skin and last a lot longer too.

I have tried Faded Glory also and they are one of the worst brands i have tried. I thought if I bought them I would have a best kept secret and settle on that brand.
