Spam Email Attachment(s): Attached_Document_INC#41179.rar (within the .rar, there is a Attached_Document.exe)
I received this email in my inbox this morning shortly after sending my weekly update email to people on my subscriber list, and for a second I thought it might be legitimate.
Once I noticed there was a .rar file (like a zip/compressed file), I knew it was suspect. I looked up corptech.com, and noticed it was a legit company, but one I’ve never done any business will or sent any emails to.
I did a quick search on google and found this report on the Cisco Site:
Threat Outbreak Alert: Fake Spam Complaint Report E-mail Messages on September 19, 2011
9/20/11 Update – Reader mentions in comments below that he received a similar email, but the From: showed as “ICI investment”, not CorpTech. Yep, that’s still a spam email too!
