Flint and Tinder Underwear: Shipping Has Begun
Back in May, newcomer in the Made-in-USA underwear maker Flint & Tinder raised nearly $300,000 on Kickstarter.com.
It’s clear Jake Bronstein’s message of making quality underwear right here in the United States resonated with a lot of folks (5,578 people to be exact).
As I followed the launch, originally slated for late June, I noticed some delays and gaps in time between status updates to the Kickstarter backers. I reached out to the factory who was helping Jake manufacture the goods (Fessler USA) to find out what was happening, and was pleasantly surprised when I got a super-fast response from both Fessler & Jake himself! They both provided me with a great deal of detail about the status of the production in late August. Kudos to them.
Turns out, there were unexpected delays due to the increased demand (30,000 garments) which required Fessler to procure some new equipment and required Jake to order much larger amounts of raw material than originally planned, needed to make all the underwear and undershirts.
The good news is that just last week, Flint & Tinder started shipping out product to their Kickstarter backers. (Website Ordering will go live on 10/18/12)
Product Details & Pricing
- Trunk Briefs, Boxer Briefs, Briefs, & Knit Boxers. Colors: Black, Green, Grey, Navy Blue, Red, Sky Blue, White. Price: $18.95
- Crew Neck & V-Neck Tee. Color: White. Price: $18.95
In reading through the comments on their Kickstarter page, it looks like some folks have already received their product and liking how they look and feel.
Congrats to Flint & Tinder, Jake’s Team, and Fessler USA for keeping manufacturing jobs here in the USA!
