Happy New Year folks! I hope your holidays were safe and enjoyable.

Lots of great things to talk about in 2009. For starters, I got my Lumbarwear Sports Performance garmants right after Christmas as expected and plan to wear them each for the day so I can tell you about it. Also, Equmen is supposed to be making their much anticipated core precision undershirt available for purchase on their website on January 10th. I should be receiving mine any day now and plan to put that puppy on as soon as I get it and write about it here. My write-up of the new modal undershirt from Tommy John is forthcoming as well.

Although this isn’t really a question that came in from a reader, I’ve run across some questions on Yahoo! Answers that I thought I’d share with you. Here’s one from a guy who is looking for a tight collared undershirt for a very different reason:

I need to wear white undershirts for my job. I have a large head, and my collars keep stretching out, which looks unsightly.

Anyone know of a branch of t-shirt where the collar won’t stretch out? Or anyone have any suggestions on how to keep from stretching them out?

Here’s my reply:

Here’s a few ideas:

Try out the Kirkland undershirts from Costco, or the 100% cotton undershirts from Campbellsville Apparel (online only). Both of those undershirts have fairly high/tight collars that will likely fit more closely and should recover well after you’ve put it on.

Try stretch undershirts made from materials like lycra or ribbed cotton. These types of undershirts are designed to fit more closely and since they are made of stretchy material, you should be able to slip the shirt over your head without permanently stretching out the collar opening.

One other idea would be to find an undershirt that has a slightly wider neck opening so you don’t overly stretch it out when you put it on.

Good Luck!
Tug

For those of you who have been looking for colored undershirts, you have probably already discovered that it’s rather difficult to find undershirts in an assortment of colors outside of the typical white, black, and grey.

I’ve had several readers write in lately asking for suggestions on where to find them and I’ve provided some suggestions in the following post:

Ask Tug: Looking for non-white colored V-Neck men’s undershirt

While the suggestions in that article have helped out some readers, one reader emailed me to let me know he found some others. Here are portions of our email exchange:

Hey Tug, thanks for the link. I wasn’t able to get any results, it seems that the alfani blue shirt isn’t sold any more, and those american apparel ones have such a huge neck hole which I though looked pretty ridiculous when I put them on. However, I did want to tell you I just found some great looking colored fitted v-necks at Banana Republic. I only saw one in the entire store, but they sell them on their site and have a nice selection of around 8 different colors! Three of the colors are even going for 10$ right now.

I emailed him back letting him know that the blue Alfani v-neck undershirts were still being sold at Macy’s department store and also asked for more information about the Banana Republic v-neck shirts he ordered. He emailed me back with the following links:

Fitted Tee’s page (prices range from $9.99 - $16.50 per t-shirt):
Colors: french blue, blue heather, oatmeal heather, gull grey, pink sand heather, green fly, saucy red, spruce, spinach, minot blue, cruise blue, orange heather, rosewood, and cambridge green
http://www.bananarepublic.com/browse/category.do?cid=35922

Essential Tees (prices start at $16.50 per t-shirt):
Colors: black, white, dark charcoal
http://www.bananarepublic.com/browse/category.do?cid=5436

The Fitted Tees above are offered in v-neck and crew neck and do come in a variety of colors, however, they are standard t-shirts and not specifically undershirts. That’s not to say regular tees can’t be worn as undershirts, because some surely can be. But t-shirts are usually made out of slightly heavier fabric than undershirts so they may be slightly warmer to wear.

How about Dyeing undershirts the color you want?

Not too long ago, a reader wrote in looking in for some tall colored undershirts for her husband, and in the post I thought it might be a good idea to try finding a long white undershirt that fit her husband and try to dye it the color of her choice. The idea was inspired from my childhood when Mom Tug would pick up clothing dye from the local market and use it on some of our clothes that had been color damaged in the wash.

So recently, I was at the local grocery and decided to pick up some Rit Dye (color TAN 16) so I could give it a try. You can dye clothes in the washer itself (which Mrs. Tug would never let me do), in hot water in the sink, or in a large pan of hot water on the stove. In an effort not to get myself in trouble with the wife, I decided to pull out my old turkey fryer and do the experiment outside. To my surprise, the undershirts I dyed actually turned out really nice so I am definitely going to try dyeing more undershirts some other brighter colors and report back here.

The test subjects were both 100% cotton undershirts (5.11 Tactical & RibbedTee) as dyeing is not recommended for 100% polyester, 100% acrylic or fabrics with special finishes. Here are some before and after pictures:

Very cool news folks. The sales manager for LUMBARWEAR in the US market posted a comment on the blog recently in response to an article I posted not too long ago about their product, and offered to send me some samples of their product.

Here’s the original post: LUMBARWEAR: The Man Girdle - Promoting Stability and Lumbar Strength

After a quick email exchange with them, here’s what they had to say about their product:

Hi Tug,

Thank you for your quick reply.
We understand that you are an expert in the “undergarment world” and we will be really interested in having your feedback.

I am sending you the samples right now, you should get them by X-mas!!

Please allow me to clarify that:
The LUMBARWEAR has been designed to promote stability and lumbar strength. Unlike other girdles, LUMBARWEAR’s graded pressure activates the muscles of the torso strengthening the abdominals and building core strength. I am attaching a study we have carried out from a bio-mechanical laboratory in Barcelona, BAASYS. In it you will find proof of what we claim the LUMBARWEAR does.

We are also attaching a letter from one of the many doctors who have tried the LW with his patients.

Dr-Cowalinsky-Clinical-Study.pdf

Baasys-Lumbarwear-Study.pdf

Also, a side benefit of the garment is that it will smooth out lines while promoting strength.

Looking forward to hearing from you,
Best Regards,

Today, I received an email confirmation that my LUMBARWEAR items are on their way. If all goes well, I’ll have them right after Christmas!

Hell, maybe this will help me strengthen my abs and get the six-pack I’ve always wanted. If that doesn’t work, I guess I’ll just put on my Equmen undershirt and get an instant six-pack

Stay tuned for more information.

Here’s one of many emails I get from readers who are looking for undershirts that are long enough to stay tucked, but are narrow enough so they don’t feel bulky or bunch up. Though, not only is this reader looking for that, she hopes to find one in colors other than the standard white, black or grey.

Oh my! The challenges keep getting tougher. Here’s her email.

Tug,
I’m having a hard time finding undershirts for my husband. He is 5′11” and about 170 lbs. The biggest issue is that his current undershirts keep coming untucked during the day and it drives him crazy. I’ve been looking for extra long ones, but usually can only find “tall” and they usually start at size XL, while he generally wears a medium.

The other issue is that he would like some colored undershirts: navy blue, black and brown. Some brands carry the blue and black, but I have had trouble finding brown.
Do you have any suggestions. Oh and of course we are looking for a decent price.
Thanks, L

Hi L,

Sorry for the delay in getting back with you but I’ve been swamped!

This is a tough one because in addition to there not being a large selection of narrow longer undershirts, there aren’t that many companies that offer a wide variety of colored undershirts. There are plenty of companies that offer colored t-shirts, but many times those t-shirts will be too heavy to wear as undershirts and most won’t be long enough.

Because your husband is a little taller and thinner, it’ll be hard to find an undershirt that is not only long enough for him to keep from coming untucked, but also thin enough not to be baggy on him. But don’t you worry, I’m sure we can come up with something for you.

Here’s an article I wrote about undershirts for tall men:
Undershirts for Tall Men (Long Undershirts)

Here’s a quick comparison of the width and lengths on several undershirts I have handy (sorted by narrowest first):

The tough thing is that most of the undershirts above come in the standard black, white, or grey colors, except for Alfani that does have some other colors.

I’m not sure if you ever thought about it, but you could try buying one of the longer undershirts mentioned above in white (if it’s cotton) and try dying it with the color of your choice (brown, right?). I’ve seen clothing dyes like this in the past at the local grocery store and it just might do the trick! (I just thought of that idea by the way)

Let me know if the above information helps you find something that will work for your husband.

Thanks for writing in with your question!

It’s really interesting that I continue to get emails from readers about this topic. Even more interesting is that I’ve had conversations with some guys over the last few weeks and they have said the exact same thing!

Seems as though a lot of guys really like high, tight collared undershirts. Or more precisely, it sounds the mass market undershirt collars don’t retain their shape after several washings.

Here’s the email exchange I had with one reader:

Do you have any suggestions for undershirts that have a collar that doesn’t stretch out or sag after wearing it a couple of times? Maybe with lycra in collar or something?

I thought the Charlie Sheen/Michael Jordan lay flat collar was it but no…

Thanks !
P

[Tug]

I hear ya! I wasn’t overly impressed with the lay flat collar undershirt from Hanes either.

As far as recommendations, it really depends on what you’re looking for and your particular body style/height.

There’s a few potential categories of options:
1. Regular cotton undershirt with higher collars
2. Stretchy undershirts with a bit of lycra in them
3. Stretchy ribbed undershirts, 100% ribbed cotton
4. Polyester/moisture wicking undershirts

Out of the list above, does anything sound particularly interesting? I should be able to point you to some articles on my blog that can provide more information. Also, tell me a little more about your size/weight/height.

Thanks for your email!

[P] Thanks ! I am probably looking for a regular undershirt with a high collar that has lycra in the collar so it maintains its shape (without stretching out) and the rest of the shirt 100% cotton. I find the shirts with lycra throughout are too hot except in the winter…

I looked at the 5.11 undershirts, they look like they would fit the bill, but cost $9 each with shipping…

I am 6 ft. 175 lbs. 15 ½ inch neck, thin frame.

[Tug]

Hi P,

Unfortunately there aren’t any undershirts that I know of that have a collar with lycra and the rest of the shirt 100% cotton (an interesting idea though). The undershirt manufacturers don’t make the undershirts that way. They make all the same fabric, then cut out the collars from the same fabric as they do the body of the shirt.

No worries though! I’ll get back with you a little later tonight with a couple of alternate recommendations.

In the meantime, you may want to check out the following article on my site:
Ask Tug: I wear my undershirt backward - looking for one without a tag

[P] Maybe we have a business opportunity !

Looks like you liked the 5 11 shirts also…I ordered some, but they’re expensive !!

I like the idea of turning the shirts around…I use the Costco [Kirkland] ones too! but they also stretch out… Look forward to any of suggestions !

[Tug]

Yes, the 5.11 seems to be pretty good undershirts overall. Candidly, I don’t wear mine very often because I prefer fitted, more narrow cut undershirts. I know 5.11 has some like that, I just haven’t gotten around to ordering them yet.

I racked my brain over the last couple of days to see if I could come up with any additional alternatives for you.

I did write another article not too long ago that recommended some alternatives to Hanes:
Ask Tug: Is there an alternative to Hanes ComfortSoft?

Most of the undershirts listed there are higher-quality undershirts that should hold up better than the lower-priced mass market undershirts. I found the shirts from Campbellsville Apparel pretty good, but make sure you tear-off the tag because it’s too scratchy. That one is probably in your price range too.

There are also a couple other undershirts that I’ve found at Macy’s that have good collars and are of decent quality: Alfani and Jockey. In fact, one of my friends wears the Alfani cotton stretch crew because he likes the better quality and the fact that their collars hold up better. Alfani usually runs about $8 per undershirt, but Macys is having some crazy holiday sales right now. Granted, the Alfani stretch is a full blend of cotton/spandex so you might find that one equally as warm as the others you’ve tried.

Thanks for the intel on the Costco [Kirkland] undershirts. My pops-in-law wears them and every time I see him, the collars seem to be high/tight-up on his neck, but like any other regular cotton undershirt, it makes sense that they also stretch out.

Keep me posted on your experience and whether or not you decide to try out any other undershirts.

Update: I got the following email from [M] with some informaton about the 5.11 he ordered.

FYI…
Received the 5.11 shirts…not to impressed, material is thin, neck no better than others. Costco shirts still better. I’m serious, we should put together a 5-10% lycra collar on a beefy cotton shirt (like Costco) and sell them!

Hmmm, that’s pretty interesting because the 5.11 I have is a pretty decent undershirt. But, since I don’t have any Costco (Kirland) brand undershirts, I can’t compare the two side by side. Actually, Mrs. Tug and I will be visiting her family over the holiday, so maybe I’ll try to convince him to give me one of his Costco undershirts so I can compare for myself.

Also, who knows — maybe [M] and I will make up a cotton undershirt with a lycra collar!
Anyone interested in an undershirt like that?

Update:

I was able to pick up a Costco Kirkland undershirt from my father-in-law and have to agree with P that the undershirts from Kirkland do seem slightly better than the 5.11 Tactical Utili-T. The Kirkland undershirts are thicker, slightly softer, and have tighter collar design. Here’s a quick comparison of the two undershirts:

In both cases, you’ll notice that the Kirkland measurements are smaller. I believe this is the reason why the collars on the Kirkland undershirt will be tighter than the Tactical 5.11.

A couple days ago I found out that, in addition to launching their new Core Precision Undershirt, Equmen is also working on a line of body shaping briefs. I dropped a line to my friends over there to inquire on whether or not they could share any details and this is what they had to say:

Hi Tug,

You don’t miss a beat do you? I’ve attached for your reference our launch press release, which I don’t think I sent you as of yet…..

With respect to our “unbelievable underwear” that Gavin talked about in his interview with The Sunday Age…..I can indeed confirm with you that they will be introduced to customers in the first half of 2009. I can also confirm with you that they are, in my extensive & expert opinion, the best underwear I have ever put on :) however I do recognize that I may be biased here so instead of taking my word for it, I will commit to getting you some samples to review in advance of our launch next spring.

Current focus remains the successful launch of our Core Precision Undershirts in January. We look forward to your feedback on our garments after your personal trial! We also neglected to inquire on your size, please advise!

Thanks in advance

Can I tell you how excited I am to get those undershirts! (I’m also pretty stoked about trying out their new briefs — but that’ll be a while).

Here’s their launch press release. For your reading enjoyment…

[Snippet]
“New compression garments have been developed to help athletes to perform at their peak,” says Equmen CEO Gavin Jones. “The science behind them claims to focus muscle power, facilitates oxygen !ow, aid endurance, and speed recovery, thereby providing a competitive edge. We have found that the same technologies can benefit men on an everyday basis.”

You read it here first!

As soon as I have the undershirts, I’ll let everyone know!

Update: Found this forum post that includes comments from the writer’s friend who tried out an Equmen tank top:

So, I decided to take the product out for a test-run on an average fellow. I gave two pairs of Equmen tanks to my friend “Baron” (not his real name) to wear and report back. Here’s what he had to say:

When I pulled it out of the box I never thought it would fit. As I put it on I felt the pain felt by thousands of women daily who squeeze into hose or tights. It is a point of really confronting one’s self when one looks in the mirror and embarks on wearing such form altering garments. Once I got it on, I was a bit embarrassed and felt ludicrous until I put on the remainder of my clothes. Once dressed, I noticed that there was noticeable pressure on my lower back– not bad pressure — but the type you feel after doing squats, the tight, strong feeling that encourages you to stand up straight. I also feel it a bit in the gut which also makes me want to stand up straighter.

Thus far I am aware of the thing, it does give a sense of presence and confidence in an odd sort of way. I don’t think it helps my silhouette noticeably as I thought, but it does encourage better posture so there are aesthetic benefits.

I own 62 white t-shirts that I use as undershirts and they bother me because they are bulky and don’t tuck well. This is form fitting and does away with the tucking issue while providing the benefits of a T-Shirt. Tom Ford said he never wears underwear because it adds inches to his waist-line… well now there is a solution.

Hot off the press! Rachel Wells, a writer for Australian online publication The Age just posted this article that highlights the recent trend and interest in mens undergarment shapewear products that began earlier this year.

Although not an article specifically about undershirts, it highlighted some upcoming plans of the new company Equmen. As you may recall, Equmen is maker of the Core Precision Undershirt, a new body-slimming compression undershirt that is coming out in January (and one that I will be getting the opportunity to review before their release).

In it, she get’s the opportunity to interview Gavin Jones, Equmen’s managing director.

We’ll Mr. Jones let’s the cat out of the bag and shares that Equmen is also developing a range of body-shaping briefs that will shape and support the male behind.

We’ve got a killer range of underpants coming. They’re all about compression, ventilation, streamlining and shaping but we won’t be touching the front bit…because that’s like saying ‘you’re not good enough’.

I’ll try to get more Intel from the company representative’s I’ve been talking with and will keep you posted.

Here’s another article that enlightened me on some other similar products such as the Flashback Butt Lifting Technology Boxer from underwear designer Andrew Christian and the G-Storm padded boxer.

Back about a month ago, a reader wrote in desperately looking for a good ribbed white cotton undershirt. Here’s what he had to say:

Hey Undershirtguy, maybe you can answer my question!

I used to live in Switzerland (1998), and I bought a bunch of Jockey ribbed white cotton undershirts over there. They’re T-shirt style, with a much bigger, rounder neck than American style crew necks, so they don’t show so much under a dress shirt with the collar unbuttoned. You could say they’re like a wife-beater tank with sleeves. They’re also quite form-fitting and long down the waist…

…Do you know if such undershirts are available in the USA anywhere?
[see the rest of the article here]

Well, he was kind enough to write back to update me on his progress:

Well, I got the Danish shirt and it’s not bad, but the collar is still too tight around the neck. Nice quality, on the tight & sheer side.

Then I ordered some shirts from RibbedTee and those have the collar I was looking for. I think I found what I needed!

Thanks, M

I emailed him back and asked for a little bit more detail on his experience with both the undershirts:

Let’s see; the Danish shirt is a tight, quality knit, elastic and smooth as if it were some kind of synthetic fiber, but it’s 100% cotton. The collar hem is a ¼” narrow ‘bead’ of stitching, which is what I like, as opposed to the ½” wide traditional knit of folded hems that can sometimes get floppy and worn before the rest of the shirt is toast. However, the collar is still too tight for me and they don’t seem to offer anything larger.

I ordered 3 different packs of RibbedTee shirts to test sizing – medium and large. Everything arrived promptly. I’m going with the Large Classic fit. The others were close enough, so I’ll keep those and wear them too. The collar is the size I wanted (finally!) and I like the ribbed cotton. The length is great for me, as I’m 6’3”. Only minor issue was that the packages weren’t marked as to exact sizing variations (Classic vs. Relaxed), so I had to email them to figure out which pack was which for ordering more of the right ones.

I’m glad to have finally found something satisfactory!

Thanks for the information M! I really appreciate you writing back in to share your experience.

Not bullet proof. But yes, a bullet resistant undershirt! Now I’ve seen everything.

Here’s the press release that got my attention:

Armor TEE will be providing NFL players with Bullet Resistant Undershirts in response to the NFL players and NFL Management’s concern for safety off the field. These Undershirts are similar to those launched by Armor TEE in October of 2008 to grade students in the wake of the recent school shootings.

NFL player’s visibility and wealth have made them prime targets with recent reports of players such as Plaxico Burress carrying illegal handguns for protection. As recently as last week, NBC reported, Giants Wide Receiver, Steve Smith, was held up at gunpoint in front of his home. Armor TEE does not believe their undershirts will solve the problem but it would offer a very realistic approach and an immediate alternative for the players.

NFL Team’s Management has not been particularly keen to the fact that their young players and investments have to resort to carrying handguns. So they believe a product like this would offer a more passive approach than their player’s carrying illegal weapons.

What is the ARMOR TEE undershirt?

The ARMOR TEE undershirt is made up of two parts;

“the outer shell” - an ultra light weight (a few ounces) moisture wicking undershirt with something referred to as Supreme ventilation channels. the outer shell contains pockets that the protective insert pads slip into

“protective inserts” - Ballistic Fiber: MLIT2. Minimizes knife assault or small firearm assault damage to covered body parts

ARMOR TEE Video

How does the ARMOR TEE undershirt work?

In simple terms, the ballistic fiber (MLIT2) used is strong enough to deflect the energy of a bullet or a knife attack. Without the pads, the undershirt provides no attack protection whatsoever.

ARMOR TEE is offering two styles and two levels of protection. The first is a tank-top design. The second is their Level B version which offers more body coverage in the upper torso and back area.

Click on the image to the right and watch a YouTube video of the product in action. It’s pretty impressive if you ask me.

For now, you can only purchase the product on the company’s website.

I’ve emailed the company for more information.

About a week ago, the world was introduced to Equmen’s compression undershirt, as a result of journalist John Waters’ article The New Spanx for Men? where he wore the product for a day.

Today I ran across an article on nymag.com about a new product from Lumbarwear (which they call the mirdle).

While a bit of a departure from my regular topic of standard undershirts, I find the insurgence of products in this category of men’s undergarments very interesting. I also am intrigued on how these companies are marketing these products. I mean really, take a girdle typically worn by a woman, change the color to black, associate it to sports performance and whammo! you have new product guys will want to buy.

Granted, for a company to invest the kind of money needed to offer and market a product like this, there’s got to be a hidden demand.

Although an early version of Lumbarwear is currently available on TaylorGifts.com, the company has completely re-hauled the product by introducing a new seamless, patented version made out of Silver X-Static yarn (I’m not sure what that it) and will be releasing it in 2009. Here’s a little blurb about the product’s history from the company’s website:

President of the company, Ramon Torrent has been an assiduous golf player since the early eighties and was looking for a garment that would give him extra support in his lower back region whilst playing, thus enhancing his swing performance. There was nothing suitable on the market, thus the version version of LUMBARWEAR was developed. A year later it was being sold all over Europe and could also be found in the US market.

Here’s some pictures that describe some of the core benefits of their product:

I’ve emailed them to see if I can get a preview of their product too. I can’t believe I might be wearing a man girdle — oh well — it’ll be a fun experiment.

Reader looking for v-neck undershirts in colors other than black and white:

I’ve looked a lot for this, but can’t find much. Found DKNY has black, but no other colors. Found some color variety in Fruit of the Loom, but the V neck isn’t very V. It’s a very shallow V-neck, essentially like a crew neck undershirt, but slightly V-ed. The DKNY is perfect, deep V-neck, but I wish it came in a few more colors than black (and white of course).

Do you know of anything? I wonder why no market has developed for this. Or, unless its there but I just can’t find it. I’d like to see any colors, gray, tan, olive, some variety.

Thanks, T

Hi T,

Thanks for your email. There are only a few select companies that offer a variety of color options for v-neck undershirts. The most common non-white or black color for an undershirt is grey. The one deeper grey v-neck that I know of off hand is the one from Duluth Trading company — check my blog for details.

I also took a trip to Macy’s recently and discovered they have a nice selection of v-neck undershirts in various colors. For example, Macy’s house brand of undershirts, Alfani, offers a nice looking v-neck and it comes in a navy blue. They also sell Calvin Klein v-neck undershirts (colors: black hole, raisin) and a Hugo Boss v-neck undershirt (color: olive).

Also, American Apparel has a large variety of jersey v-neck tops that have a couple of v-neck options (regular and deep v) plus they come in a large variety of colors. They aren’t specifically marketed as undershirts, but they are light enough to be used as undershirts. Also, if you broaden your undershirt search to light-weight t-shirts, you’ll likely find a much larger variety of colors to choose from.

The 3 main men websites that offer many different brands, styles, fits and colors of undershirts are barenecessities.com, freshpair.com, and hisroom.com. Those sites have rather good search facilities that let you drill down to the exact type of undershirt you’re looking for.

From what I understand, crew neck undershirts outsell v-necks in general and white is the most requested undershirt color. So I have to assume that’s the reason you can’t find a wide selection of non-white or black undershirts. It just doesn’t pay for an undershirt manufacturer to offer a bunch of colors if they are not big sellers.

Additional Post about colored undershirts:

Ok, I’m a pretty reasonable guy. I pride myself and being open-minded and impartial. But I have to say that I’m a little confused on why a guy would purposely seek out to wear a bra, unless of course he had a sever case of manboobs (Gynecomastia). Notwithstanding, I do appreciate the fact that all of us are different and like different things, so if you dig that kind of thing, that’s completely cool too.

Bottom line is that guys ARE looking for products like these. It’s evident after seeing the onslaught of people who visited this blog over the last few days and emailed me to learn more about Equmen’s Core Precision Undershirt, a product being touted as the “Spanx for Men”.

Now we have companies releasing Bras for Men and organizations promoting the adoption of Mantyhose.

Bras for Men:

A Japanese online shop called Wishroom sold over 300 men’s bras in its first two weeks after launching last month. Check out this video.

Mantyhose (Pantyhose for men):

At the forefront of E-MANcipate!, a project “to accelerate the acceptance of male pantyhose as a regular clothing item,” is a push for hosiery manufacturers to create pantyhose designed specifically for men. “Don’t buy female pantyhose at all,” the E-MANcipate site urges. “Don’t strengthen those companies who don’t produce/sell male pantyhose. Buy male pantyhose. Do help with your purchasing power to those who are on your/our side.”

We’ll see where all this goes.

For now, personally I’m happy sticking with my plain old undershirt.

Well folks, yesterday and today were a big day for the folks over at Equmen. Not only did I get bombarded with readers looking for information about the new Core Precision Undershirt from Equmen, I also got several emails from readers and journalists wondering if I was going to be reviewing this new product.

I’m happy to say YES, it sure looks that way. I got an email back from the kind folks at Equmen about 2 hours ago in response to my request to see if I could get an early preview of their high-end compression undershirt. Here’s the email I got:

Hi Tug,

Thanks for your interest in Equmen!!! We’ve been prematurely scooped by the media on our launch, and the response has been over the top!

I’ve passed your contact information onto {Name Removed} who is handling the media onslaught {he/she} will circle back with you shortly with respect to getting you samples of our line.

FYI – I had already short listed your blog as a trend leader in this fashion category, however you’ve got the jump on me too!

Thanks in advance for your interest, looking forward to your review!

I do hope I get to be among the first in the U.S. to try their product before their official release so I can write-up a proper review using my patent pending and scientifically proven (ok, maybe that’s going a little too far) Fit, Feel, Function, and Affordability™ process.

Flash Update!!!

I just heard from their media contact. Here’s the email:

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us. Your blurbs online are great. I think you will really love the product.

Please let me know your mailing address. We will post you a sample in the next couple of weeks when more are available. Best,

Woo Whoooo! I can’t wait. I asked for a sample tank top, short sleeve, and long sleeve and told them I’d review all of them here. In the event they can’t send one of each, I asked them to send me the one they would like me to review (I’m guessing the one they think will be the most popular).
