Ask Tug Update: Undershirts with a high, tight collar that don’t stretch out or sag
Back in the middle of December I had an email exchange with reader “P” who is completely frustrated with undershirt collars that stretch out or sag after wearing them a few times.
Here’s the post:
He’s tried the Kirkland brand undershirts from Costco as well as the Tactical Utili-T 5.11 undershirts and wasn’t completely satisfied with either.
Well, he wrote back in to let me know that he found some that just might fit the bill!!
Here’s his email:
Tug,
Bought some Jockey Mock Neck T Shirts recently. Not bad !! Material a little thin (compared to Costco/Kirkland) but some people might like a thinner shirt anyway. Cost was $7/shirt. Nice high collar with a slight amount of lycra in it (I think). They look great !
Take care. P
Available in Black and White. In looking at the product details, it shows the undershirt is made out of 100% cotton, so it doesn’t look like the collar has any lycra in it, but what the hell, if the collar stays tight, who cares what it’s made of.
I also noticed something interesting — there were a handful of comments from police officers who said that these tees were great to wear under their uniform. Here are some of the comments:
I have been looking for a t-shirt to wear under my summer police uniform. Most collars roll down, sag, or stretch out as my shift goes on. But this shirt is the best I have ever bought. They keep their shape and look good no matter how long I wear it. [Scott]
I have been wearing this mock t-shirt under police uniform in louisville ky. They look great under any uniform for a more professional look. [jcpd]
Awesome find P! Thanks for sharing.

Welcome & Thanks for Visiting UndershirtGuy.com!

Hey Mr. Swain, thanks for visiting. You should try out the Polo Ralph Lauren Big Crewneck T-Shirts from Rochester Big & Tall. I don’t have any direct experience with them, but I understand they have a pretty decent collar and they come in 4X.
Are there any t-shirts like this for big and tall guys like myself? Sizes seem to only go up to 2X I need a 4XL
Hey Claus, I agree. Let me know what you think about them!
Hi Tug! Thanks for sharing.
This might just be the perfect mock-Tneck-T that I have been looking for! Light and cool but with the higher than crew collar. Perfect for a crisper look under my work polo’s. Definitely a signature style!
Going to place an order tonight for five of them.
Awesomeness!
