Wearing my Equmen V-Neck Undershirt today…

03/10/09 Update: Undershirt Review: Equmen Core Precision Undershirt

I’m sure you all have been anxiously waiting for me to write about my experience with the Equmen Core Precision Undershirt. Well, today is the day I’m wearing one and I’m about 6 hours into wearing it.

If you recall, I received a sample of each one of their undershirt styles (v-neck, tank/singlet, and long sleeve). So far, I’ve worn my v-neck three times (two times working out and it’s the one I’m wearing today), and my tank/singlet once while working out.

Although I’ll cover the details of my experience with these new high-tech undershirts in my upcoming review, which I’m sure everyone is waiting for, I will share a few initial thoughts from wearing it today:

  1. Slimming undershirts are a little tough to get on. The Equmen is slightly harder to get on than the other slimming undershirt I reviewed not too long ago.
  2. It’s about impossible to get one of these types of undershirts on without getting deodorant on it. Thankfully it wipes off pretty easily.
  3. I look like Batman (in a good way). The minute I put on this black undershirt, I looked in the mirror and thought it would be something our good friend the caped crusader would wear.
  4. Tight, but extremely comfortable throughout. This medium sized undershirt fits my roughly 175lb, 5′9″, average built frame extremely well. Also, while the shirt fits snugly, it is not making me any warmer than when I wear a regular undershirt. In fact, I feel a wee bit cooler wearing it.
  5. The smooth, slippery fabric allows my outer shirt to hang very nicely.
  6. Very good support in the shoulders, arms, torso, and upper ab area. This is where I feel the majority of the comfortable compression.
  7. Takes off about 1/2″ from my love handle area. The picture here to the right is how an average built guy (not a model) with moderate love handles looks in an Equmen.
  8. Due to the compression, I have to tuck the undershirt into my boxers. This is no different than the other slimming undershirt that I’ve tried.
  9. Due to the length, the shirt reaches around my bottom/butt and front “lower extremities”. The shirt rides up from time to time, but because of the stretchy material, the bottom rolls up instead of coming untucked. As I sit here writing this post, the shirt bottom has rolled up to around my waistline. When I get up, I’ll need to pull it back down.  A little annoying, but not a deal-breaker.

Overall, I’m kinda diggin’ how this undershirt feels. No signs of wanting to take it off, so I’ll be comfortably wearing my Equmen for the balance of the day.

More to come in the full review.
Thanks for reading!

When are you going to post your full review? :/ I know more than a few, like myself, are waiting to buy one (or five) of these is even worth it, especially due to their price.

    Thanks!

  2. Hi WaitingImpatiently :) (btw, great name!) – looks like i’ll have a little free time tomorrow to write the full Equmen review. Been wearing my singlet/tank regularly when working out and really like it. Also, had some friends over the other day and asked one to try a couple on – will talk about that in my full review as well.

will this shirt improve man boobs?

  4. Hi Roger – No slimming undershirt, including Equmen, can actually improve or reduce your man boobs. They can, however, significantly mask them while you are wearing the undershirt. In general, the most effective methods for reducing or eliminating man boobs are either diet & exercise or surgery.

my man boobs are a bit of a handful, wll the shirt work on them?

  6. well, the Equmen undershirts will compress your chest area and will likely mask man boobs to some extent. It’s hard to say exactly how effective the undershirt will be on you, because it will primarily depend the shape and build of your torso. For example, I’ve had other readers here comment that some slimming tank tops force excess fat into bulges around the underarm area. Of course, if you get a v-neck undershirt, that won’t likely happen as much. If overall you’re in good physical shape and simply have man boobs, a slimming undershirt like Equmen will likely to a modest to decent job of masking them.

Hi Tug, just wanted to share with your British bloggers that I read in the news that Selfridges Department Store will begin carrying Equmen Undershirts. What was intriguing from the news story was that British women seem uneasy with the concept; British men (who will be wearing them) seem to be anticipating slimming undershirts with great interest. It would be very interesting to see how sales go in Britain.

  8. thanks skip! i did read several articles about that Selfridges announcement and heard from the folks at Equmen as well who shared the same news. The comments from the Selfridges spokesperson makes me wonder a bit — sounds like they are willing to try stocking Equmen for now and see how they sell. Some folks speculate on whether or not men will actually want to buy a Spanx-like product in a store, or if they’d prefer to “anonymously” order them over the web. I guess we’ll see.

Out of all the press I’ve read over the last few days, there is this Goodbye Moobs and Muffin Top article that I have enjoyed the most!

The folks at Equmen also mentioned they were in the San Francisco Bay Area this week and some of the folks were in other parts of the U.S. as well — there might be something brewing.

when will they go on sell in selfridges

  10. hey roger, don’t know when they’ll be available at selfridges. all the articles from late February simply said “next month” (March). Maybe I can find out exactly when. Let me check and get back to everyone here.

  11. hey roger, i found out that the equmen undershirts will be at the Selfridges London store starting this Thursday (March 5th). Let us know if you decide to go by and pick one up.

I’ve had Gastric Bypass surgery and lost 175 pounds. It has left me with sagging skin that hangs below my waistline. Will the equmen shirt hide/compress this area? If not, what about the equmen long trunks?

  15. Hi Lej, Congratulations on losing 175lbs! That’s a tremendous achievement that you should be proud of. In short, yes, a slimming undershirt like Equmen will help hide/compress the area below your waistline that is now sagging because of all the weight you lost. Equmen undershirts are pretty long, so you’ll get slimming/compression effects down to the bottom of the shirt.

You should also check out the soon to be released 2(x)ist FORM underwear or other products like Underworks. Check out this article on my site for more information.
