Upcoming Undershirt Review: Sculptees Shapewear Undershirts for Men

As I’ve mentioned before, there is a lot of interest and buzz going on right now about men’s shapewear products (compression/slimming undershirts & underwear).  After reading an article about the new compression/slimming undershirt from Equmen, a reader posted a comment to let us all know about the shapewear undershirts from Sculptees.

I got an email from their PR folks, and they asked if I’d share their recent press release with everyone (see below).

Also, the kind folks at Sculptees have graciously offered to send over one of their products for me to try out (I think either their T-Slim or Pex undershirt).  As soon as I get it, I’ll wear it for a day and do a little write up on it here!

Here’s the press release:

Sculptees Launches New Men’s Underwear Collection
Innovative Line Introduces Shapewear to Men’s Market

Houston, TX – January 12, 2009:    For years women have relied on Spanx as their secret
weapon for figure flattery. Recognizing there were no options for men that provided similar slimming and shaping qualities, yet looked like traditional underwear, Stephanie Thibeaux has launched the Sculptees brand.

Sculptees allows men to look and feel better in their clothes by smoothing the appearance of unwanted bulges, supporting the core for better posture and confidence, and providing a more sculpted look overall. Because it looks like regular underwear and has only minimal compression, it is both effective and extremely comfortable under both business and casual clothes.

Designer/creator Thibeaux says, “Men want to look good but they definitely don’t want to feel like they’re wearing a girdle. I knew if I could create a line of underwear in familiar styles, like ribbed tanks and boxer briefs, that offered smoothing properties and a ‘just back from the gym’ look, guys would really respond.  Men are more interested in sculpting the body than slimming it. Guys get hung up on calling it shapewear, so we call it sculptwear. That’s where the name Sculptees came from.  We want to give guys a smooth, sleek look not an hour glass figure”.

The Sculptees collection includes five styles in multiple colors  – the Slim seamless ribbed tank; the Pex tank with relaxed body and ribbed waist; the T-Slim seamless crew neck mesh tee;  the Bandit seamless waffle knit waistband; and the Jimmy high-waisted boxer brief in 6” and 9” inseams. The size range on all products is Medium to XXL with suggested retail prices from $26 to $75. All Sculptees products are proudly made in the USA.

01/29/09 Update – Man, that was fast shipping! I got my grey T-Slim in the mail the other day and just got a chance to unpack it and take a quick snap shop of it. While you can’t really tell by the picture, the shirt is actually pretty small (21.5″ long, 11.25″ wide). In fact,  my first reaction was that it looked like a shirt for a little boy. I was thinking there was no way that this thing is going to fit me. But, curiousity got the best of me and I had to put it on.  Sure enough, it fit! Never would have guessed. I was really shocked and impressed at how the length went from 21.5″ to around 29.5″ as I pulled it down around my waist and hips. I’m going to wear for a day soon and then I’ll do the full write up on it.
